Project Intro
This setup is all about delivering punchy, fashion-forward light with a sharp editorial edge. Let’s get started!
STEP 1
  • Position a 6×6 frame with 6×6 grid cloth on the set’s left.
  • Add a Profoto White Medium umbrella on the same side (per the 3D render) to create clean, even contrast on the model.
  • Surround the setup with black polyboards to prevent spill across the set.
  • Start at power 7.0 and adjust to your surroundings.
STEP 2
  • Mount a Profoto 2×3″ softbox at camera-left, low and angled toward the model.
  • Use as gentle fill to lift shadows under the chin/neck.
  • Start at power 3.0 and adjust to taste.
STEP 3
  • Place a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector at the back as a kicker/rim.
  • Aim at the model’s outer edge for separation and shape; tilt slightly upward to avoid floor spill.
  • Use black polyboards (per the 3D render) to block unwanted spill.
  • Start at power 4.0 and adjust to taste.
STEP 4
  • Mount a Profoto 5″ Octabox with grid centered directly above the model.
  • Use as a toplight for a subtle sheen on hair and shoulders; keep the beam tight.
  • Start at power 3.0 and adjust to taste.
STEP 5
  • Place a Profoto White Medium umbrella to subtly fill the background.
  • Keep output low to avoid flattening; start at power 3.0 and adjust.
  • Camera settings: 1/160 s, f/11, ISO 160.
Note: shot with an ultra-wide 8 mm lens.
