Ultrabounce
A durable, reversible fabric with a bright white side for reflecting light and a black side for blocking it. Commonly used on large frames or butterflies.
Why it’s used: The white side bounces soft, even light onto the subject, while the black side absorbs light to increase contrast, offering two light-control options in one tool.

Project Intro
Our aim with this setup is to craft an ultra soft, naturally flattering light—so we’re building a “book light” to wrap your subject in gentle illumination. Let’s roll up our sleeves and dive in!

STEP 1
- Mount an 8×8 Ultrabounce frame at a 45° angle.
- Clip an 8×8 grid cloth fabric to the top edge, forming a “book.”
- Place a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector low inside the “book,” bouncing into the Ultrabounce.
- Surround with three black polyboards to flag spill.
- Start at power 7.0 and tweak until the light is super‑soft and natural.

STEP 2
- Position two white polyboards on the far side of the set to fill shadow areas.
- Mount a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector at camera‑left, high up.
- Aim it at the ceiling so light bounces back for extra soft, natural fill.
- Begin at power 5.0 and tweak to taste.
- Camera settings 1/160, f6.3, ISO160
