Project Intro
Our aim with this setup is to replicate the look and feel of pure, direct sunlight—while still retaining absolute control over each element in the scene. Ready to craft your own sunlit masterpiece? Let’s go!
STEP 1
  • Mount a 12×12 frame and stretch the Grid Cloth 2/3 fabric over it (unlike the Ultrabounce fabric, this lets a bit of light through for an even more subtle bounce).
  • Position two Profoto ProHeads with Zoom Reflectors as shown in the 3D render, aiming them into the Grid Cloth.
  • The Grid Cloth gives a gentle fill rather than an all‑out reflective “wall.”
  • Start both heads at power 5.0 and adjust until you achieve the desired softness.
STEP 2
  • Mount two Profoto White Medium umbrellas at the back, angled per the 3D render for even, soft backdrop illumination.
  • Flag each with a black polyboard behind to block spill into the set.
  • Begin at power 4.0 and tweak until the background is lit to your taste.
STEP 3
  • Mount a Profoto Hardbox (or Magnum Reflector) at camera‑right behind you – both work well for harsh light.
  • Increase distance for harder, more even “sunlight” on the model.
  • Flag with a black polyboard on the model’s left for contrast.
  • Add a white polyboard on the model’s right to fill shadows.
  • Start at power 7.0 and tweak to taste.
  • Suggested camera: 1/160 s, ƒ/8.0, ISO 160.
