Project Intro
The goal of this setup for NUMÉRO Magazine is to create a high-contrast, surreal editorial light. to elevate the look and styling of our model Lise even further.
  • Mount a Profoto White Umbrella on a ProHead high above and directly behind the model, tilted forward (away from the backdrop) for shoulder and hair light. Start at Power 4.0 and adjust accordingly.
  • To camera-left, just outside the backdrop, place a second Profoto White Umbrella on a ProHead at head height to cast a soft gradient on the backdrop. Start at Power 3.0.
  • On camera-right of the backdrop, position a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector aimed at the model’s side and back for extra separation. Start at Power 4.0.
  • Tweak each light to taste
STEP 2
  • Mount a Profoto Magnum reflector on a ProHead to the model’s left for a punchy, hard light.
  • Place white diffusion foil in front of the Magnum Reflector to soften it slightly.
  • Start at Power 5.0 and tweak to taste. This is your key light!
  • Place a Profoto 5″ Octa RFI immediately beside the Magnum Reflector to fill in shadows. Start at Power 3.0 and adjust as needed.
STEP 3
  • Mount a Profoto 2×3 Softbox on camera-right, angled slightly downward to fill in shadows under the chin.
  • Start at Power 3.0 and tweak to taste.
  • Camera Settings: 1/160 s, f/8, ISO 160.
