Project Intro
The goal of this setup is to sculpt ultra-soft, cloud-like light that leaves virtually no shadows and can be used for a variety of shoots. Let’s dive in!
STEP 1
  • Rig a 12×12 frame overhead and stretch Bleached Muslin across it as a “ceiling.”
  • Mount two Profoto ProHeads with Zoom Reflectors on either side of the frame.
  • Aim each head into the muslin so light bounces down for ultra-soft fill.
  • Start at power 6.0 and tweak until the glow feels just right.
STEP 2
  • Mount two Profoto White Medium umbrellas at the back, angled as shown in the 3D render to softly light the backdrop.
  • Flag each with a black polyboard behind to block unwanted spill.
  • Begin at power 4.0, then tweak down if highlights begin to burn out.
  • Keep power moderate to avoid over-brightening the background.
STEP 3
  • Position an 8×8 frame with Grid Cloth behind the camera, per the render.
  • Mount a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector behind you, aiming into the Grid Cloth to softly fill shadows.
  • Start at power 4.0 and tweak until the overall light wraps gently.
  • Shot with a super wide-angle lens 16–35 mm at 1/160 s, ƒ/9, ISO 200—adjust to your gear and taste.
