Project Intro
Our goal is to craft a high contrast, editorial ready lighting setup that gives us precise control over every element. Let’s dive in!
STEP 1 (Key Light)
  • Mount a Briese Focus 77 on a Profoto ProHead at far camera-right for strong contrast and crisp highlights(see 3D render)
  • Flag and flag again: use black Molton on a stand plus flags/polyboards to block spill onto the backdrop—this keeps your background dark for later color accents.
  • Add a black polyboard on the model’s left to deepen side contrast.
  • Start at Power 7.0 and tweak to taste.
STEP 2 (Fill to Key)
  • To the right side of the camera, position a half-open Profoto Deep Silver umbrella to lift the model’s shadows without lighting the backdrop.
  • Start at Power 3.0 and adjust as needed.
STEP 3
  • Hang your colored gels in front of two backlights:
  • o   Left: Profoto 4×6 Softbox with grid + gel—start at Power 4.0 and tweak to suit your space.
  • o   Right: Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector, grid + colored gel—start at Power 3.0 and adjust as needed.
  • These units splash color onto the backdrop without affecting your model.
STEP 4
  • This was captured with an 8-15mm super‑wide‑angle/fish-eye lens at 1/160 s, f/11, ISO 160. Feel free to tweak these settings to suit your creative vision.
