Project Intro
The goal of this setup is to build a contemporary 8-point light to create the feeling of being in outerspace and serve the storyline of the PUMA x JUUN J. Speedcat sneaker.
STEP 1
- Set up a 6×6 frame with grid on the left to prevent spill on the backdrop(see 3D render)
- Behind the frame, mount a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector as your key light; start at Power 8.0 and tweak as needed.
- Directly in front of the frame, position a Profoto beauty dish on a ProHead at subject height for added punch and contrast; start at Power 5.0
STEP 2
- Light 1:
- · Mount a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector on the right rear of the set, aimed at the backdrop to create a smooth gradient.
- · Start at Power 4.0 and tweak as needed.
- Light 2:
- · High above the set (≈3 m), position a Profoto White Umbrella on a ProHead using a High-Roller stand + Manfrotto Super Boom arm.
- · This uplight adds a soft central glow—start at Power 5.0.
- Light 3:
- · On the left rear, add another Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector aimed at the back of your subject for separation.
- · Start at Power 5.0 and adjust to taste.
STEP 3
- Mount a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector on the subject’s right to introduce a hard sidelight for high contrast. Start at Power 5.0 and tweak as needed.
- Add two Profoto Snoots and experiment with their placement—these create small, focused highlights on whatever parts of the subject you choose and need. Adjust power to taste.
