Project Intro
We aimed to deliver a punchy, high impact lighting setup that’s perfect for classic studio campaigns. It works equally well for tight beauty shots and full body compositions. Let’s break it down!

STEP 1
- Evenly light the background with two (or four, if space allows) Profoto Deep White Umbrellas on ProHeads.
- Position them at the far left and right of the backdrop.
- Flag off each unit with black flags or polyboards to keep spill off your model.
- Start at Power 5.0 and tweak to suit your surroundings.

STEP 2
- Build your key-light, which is a so called “book light”: rig an 8×8 Ultrabounce frame at a 45° angle to the subject.
- Drape an 8×8 Grid Cloth loosely over the leading edge as shown.
- Center a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector between the fabrics, firing into the Ultrabounce to flash and bounce light back through the Grid Cloth
- Flag both sides with black polyboards and place two white polyboards beneath the setup to fill in lower shadows.
- Start at Power 7.0 and tweak to taste.

STEP 3
- Position a Profoto Soft White Reflector (beauty dish) beside the book-light rig to add punchy highlights and contrast on the face.
- Start at Power 4.0 and tweak to taste.

STEP 4 (Optional)
- Arrange white polyboards around the set to soften the look and fill in shadows.
- For extra ambient fill (upper left in the render), mount a Profoto ProHead with Zoom Reflector aimed at the ceiling to bounce light back into the scene.
- Camera settings 1/160, f11, ISO160.
