Project Intro
Our aim with this setup is to deliver a punchy, high contrast editorial lighting effect to support the fish-eye aesthetic. Let’s jump in!
STEP 1
- Mount a Profoto White Medium Umbrella behind a 6×6 frame fitted with 6×6 Grid Cloth, positioned to camera-left for even contrast on your model.
- Surround the frame with three black polyboards to block spill onto the backdrop, and add two more polyboards on the opposite to deepen contrast on the model.
- Start at Power 7.0 and tweak to your space.
STEP 2
- Mount a Profoto 2×3 Softbox on camera-left, angled to fill in facial shadows.
- Start at Power 3.0 and tweak to taste.
STEP 3
- Mount a Profoto 5″ Octa RFI with grid overhead as a top light to add subtle highlights in the model’s hair.
- Start at Power 3.0 and tweak to taste.
- Shot with an ultra-wide 16–35 mm lens (Canon EF 16-35 mm) for that extreme angle.
- Camera Settings: 1/160 s, f/11, ISO 160.

Our aim with this setup is to deliver a punchy, high contrast editorial lighting effect to support the fish-eye aesthetic. Let’s jump in!
BEFORE AND AFTER

STEP 1
- Mount a Profoto White Medium Umbrella behind a 6×6 frame fitted with 6×6 Grid Cloth, positioned to camera-left for even contrast on your model.
